Tolong Siki is a new alphabetic script created in 1999 by Dr. Narayan Oraon for the Kurukh language, a Dravidian language spoken in parts of India. The script was specifically designed to accurately represent the unique phonetics and phonology of Kurukh, including its distinct aspirated and retroflex sounds. It gained official recognition from the state of Jharkhand in 2007, and since then, numerous books and magazines have been published in Tolong Siki. The script was recently added to the Unicode Standard with the release of version 17.0.
